EU Sport Diplomacy: read the latest Sport and Citizenship Journal

The current health crisis has been seen by many people as the chance to create something new and to develop new solutions to problems. Climate change, social inequality, the economic crisis and uncertainties in the health sector: there is no lack of challenges and they have been thrown into stark relief in recent weeks. Where is sport in all this? What role can it play in rebuilding society ?

Discover the latest release focusing on EU sport diplomacy

The special focus in this quarter’s issue illustrates this capacity for change. Four years ago the Think Tank Sport and Citizenship focused on sporting diplomacy, Sport and Citizenship wanted to have another look at this approach today, in the light of the current situation seen from the European point of view. The expertise of members of the “Promoting a Strategic Approach to EU Sport Diplomacy” (EUSD) project coordinated by Edge Hill University and supported by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Sport programme will allow you to discover the issues involved in European Sport Diplomacy as well as thoughts about how to include this sector in the diplomacy of the EU and the Member States.

This revue was produced with the help of Edge Hill University and the EUSD project consortium.

HEMA project launches European wide questionnaire

The European Federation for Company Sport is strongly engaged in the development of company sport and grassroots sports at EU levels through the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

In the framework of the HEMA project, Healthy Employee Mobile and Active, we are looking for your help and engagement.

HEMA in a nutshell

“Healthy Employee, Mobile and Active” (HEMA) is a 3-year program intended to tackle the high level of physical inactivity in Europe. HEMA is supported and co-funded by the European Commission in the field of Erasmus+ program and European Week of Sport. The project aims at leveraging physical activity rates by combining sport, physical activity and mobility. The concept of HEMA is to associate moments of practicing sport to specific discussions and studies around ways of implementation of physical activity and mobility in European workplaces.

One major aspect of HEMA legacy will concern the development and transfer of specific and adapted programs to EU workplaces to help them implementing concrete sport and mobility activities at work.

HEMA contribution

The project is carrying out a European state-of-art report on the current programmes available for promoting physical activity and active mobility at work in Europe, a survey targeted to employers and employees to identify major levers and brakes in providing and participating in such programmes, and a framework for pilot testing of such programmes over three months in Belgium, France and Latvia in 2021.

The survey is currently open and can be accessed in different languages.

Official kick-off meeting of the WAC project
