Three Sports Club for Health events (SCforH)

Three Sports Club for Health (SCforH) events in September attended by >180 participants

In September 2022, three events were organised as part of the third International Sports Club for Health (SCforH) project entitled “Creating mechanisms for continuous implementation of the Sports Club for Health guidelines in the European Union”.

A symposium titled Sports Club for Health (SCforH) approach: evidence on importance and examples of implementation activities was held in Nice, France, on September 1, 2022, as part of the HEPA Europe Conference. It was attended by >40 participants.

 

 

The International Conference for Sports Associations and Clubs: Improving Health Through Sport was held in Zagreb, Croatia, on September 22, 2022, at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Kinesiology.

The Conference brought together approximately 130 participants from sports clubs and associations, government institutions, science, and higher education. It included six invited lectures, a panel discussion with leading Croatian experts in sports promotion, and SCforH workshop, followed by a lunch for the attendees and an informal exchange of experiences.

 

On September 23, 2022, the 5th SCforH Project Team Meeting was held at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Kinesiology. Sixteen Project Members attended the Meeting and discussed about the progress of a range of activities within the project.

 

 

The organisation of the three events has been generously supported and co-funded by the European Commission Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) through an Erasmus+ Collaborative partnerships grant. Erasmus+ program Sports Club for Health (SCforH) kicks off officially

Launch

The European Federation for Company Sport is very active in various areas. One of these areas are the Erasmus+ programs EFCS. Four programs were or are led by EFCS, in 4 others EFCS is a partner.
In the latter category, the ScforH program was launched in Zagreb on the 7th of February 2020. The first meeting was held in the premises of the Faculty of Kinesiology in the presence of several Croatian sport federations and public authorities. This project led by the Faculty of Kinesiology of the University of Zagreb gathers a consortium of 18 partners from all over Europe and even beyond.

The aim is to create mechanisms for continuous implementation of the Sports Club for Hea

lth guidelines in the European Union. The overarching objective of this project is to increase participation in sport and HEPA in EU by encouraging sports clubs and associations to implement SCforH principles in their activities.

History

The 3 year SCforH project is in fact the logical outcome of an idea that originated in 2008 by our former board member Jorma Savola and the Croatian prof. Stjepan Heimer. Since, a SCforH working group has been operating as part of the European Network for the Promotion of Health-Enhancing Physical Activity (WHO/HEPA Europe) and has produced in 2011 the first book of SCforH guidelines and in 2017 an updated version. EFCS will help realising following goals:
1. Developing the SCforH online learning tool based on the experience gained from successful SCforH initiatives
a. Identify examples of good practices
b. Select the most relevant information about SCforH movement, principles and implementation strategies
c. Create a database of SCforH initiatives
d. Develop SCforH online learning tool
2. Providing training on SCforH principles and implementation strategies to representatives of sport associations and sports clubs in Europe
a. Update the database of sport associations
b. Encourage sport associations to complete the SCforH online learning course
c. Encourage sport associations to disseminate the SCforH online learning tool
d. Conduct a survey among sport associations

ASSOCIATION SPORT FOR ALL SERBIA AND EFCS, A PERFECT MATCH !

The 14th edition of the European Winter Games were held in Kopaonik, Serbia from March 21st to March 25th 2018 with the support of the Association Sport for All Serbia.

KOPAONIK 2018, A SUCCESSFUL EDITION

Put the words fun, joy, friendship, hospitality and great winter sport conditions together and you immediately think of last week’s held 14th edition of the European Company Sport Winter Games in the superb Serbian winter sport resort of Kopaonik. Around 800 participants from 15 countries attended the games.

 

Adding to that the great move by the organizers and EFCS Sport Management to jointly organize the Serbian Ski Festival and the EFCS European winter company sport games, it hardly comes as a surprise that the 14th games have come up to expectations and that all active sportsmen and sportswomen left Kopaonik very satisfied.

 

CAN STRBSKE PLESO IN SLOVAKIA DO BETTER IN 2020?

The 2020 European Winter Games will be help in Slovakia in the region of the High Tatras. The city of Strbske Pleso will be the hotspot being the highest town in the area.

 

The town is no stranger to international competitions hosting in 1970 the Cross-country Ski World Championship. Today, the ski resort holds 24km of slopes with modern cable-cars to reach the entire ski domain and high quality accommodation.

EFCS INVITED TO THE EU SPORT FORUM 2018

EFCS was invited as guest-speaker the EU Sport Forum, unique opportunity for sport organisations to meet policy makers and representatives of the EU institutions and of the Member States.

Didier Besseyre, President fo the EFCS, accompanied of Musa Lami, General Secretary, and Guy de Grauwe, Vice-president, were welcomed in Sofia (BL) for the EU Sport Forum. This European meeting is "the place to be" for European sport.

 

THE EU SPORT FORUM

The EU Sport Forum is the main platform for structured dialogue between the European Commission and sport stakeholders. The Forum's main objective is to take stock of progress achieved in implementing the EU agenda for sport and to seek stakeholders’ views on current and planned/possible future activities.

EFCS AS GUEST-SPEAKER

EFCS President Didier Besseyre took the stage to address company sport as a whole discussing its development and implementation throughtout Europe. Various initiatives have been undertaken all over Europe continuously expanding with the latest European Project targeted to company sport, EMoCS - European Meetings of Company Sport.

EFCS President also conducted a round-table on company sport and its implementation during the EU Sport Forum.

EFCS TO CONDUCT EMOCS PROJECT

EMoCS - European Meetings of Company Sport - is the latest European project EFCS will conduct with several partners under the impulsion of Erasmus + and EWoS - European Week of Sport.

EMoCS aims to promote voluntary activities in sport, together with social inclusion, equal opportunities and awareness of the importance of health-enhancing physical activity through increased participation in, an equal access to, sport for all and more over in the workplace.

EMoCS also strives to pass on concrete inputs and contributions to create other initiatives such as a label or certificate for European companies.

EMoCS MAIN OBJECTIVES

Raise awareness of the importance of health-enhancing physical activity within or around the workplace
Identify and provide private and public decision makers concrete tools and solutions to support company sport development
Create a certification framework for an Active Workplace Label (AWL)
